Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS): as of July 1, 2006, EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) may no longer be sold in the European Union (EU) if it contains six banned substances beyond the stated limits. The six substances identified by RoHS are Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, PBBs, and PBDEs.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE): As of August 13, 2005, producers were required to finance the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of all WEEE.
